According to the founding father of action–centred leadership, John Adair, successful leadership depends on balancing and connecting three tasks:  the focus of the role, the development of its resources and the successful attainment of key objectives.  The first 100 days for the New House are undoubtedly a challenge but with a clear approach should be a chance to create a lasting impact and solid governance structure for future years.

So, how is the house doing as it approaches this key timeline?  Has it hit the ground running, gaining an in-depth understanding of these three areas in as much detail as it can?  We are beginning to see a tension between the need to build a sustainable vision as well as ‘fix’ problems.  The Government Business Plan requires serious attention to move it forward but will the attention of the New House be diverted to popular quick wins and overturns of previous decisions brought about by requetes?

Senior representatives of GIBA, CGI, Chamber of Commerce and the IoD have joined forces to review the progress and direction of the New House and to ask “what challenges are ahead for our island community and what can industry to do help meet these challenges”

A seminar is to be held to consider these matters on Friday 4th July 2008 at 12 noon at the Duke of Richmond Hotel.  Panel members are:  Peter Budwin (CGI), Paul Luxon (Chamber), Steve Le Page (GIBA), Stephen Jones (IoD).  The panel will be moderated by Mark Trenchard who will seek active participation from the audience.

The Seminar is open to all members of these organisations, their guests and other interested persons at a cost of £17.50 per person. The ticket price includes a buffet lunch. Seats may become limited and early booking is advisable.

Reservations can be made by completing and returning the application form below.  All applications will be confirmed.
