| I wonder how they will gauge who can live in what ? Essential licence holders, short term licences and the like.
The increase on somewhere like the Fleur would appear to be circa £10K, maybe change all the rooms into self catering ! |

| | Wonder if the states would be able to tell us which business sectors will be contributing what next year, IT might stop a few moaning when they see the level of contributions from the banks etc. Lets not forget, no finance industry, no Guernsey, and back to tin roofs and tomatoes six days a week ! |

It would be a shame to see the likes of Guernsey Gardens, Dell and Earlswood close. The former has stated today that they will have to close if the new charges come in to force. I don't believe this is just sabre rattling; knowing the owner of one of them it's just not their style. So the questions are and I fully accept the general fairness of the new system; no issues there. Does T&R have it right? Have these large ex vinery sites been caught up in some anomilous situation? Does Chamber have a view? Should I just shut up and carry on running my own business?

| I think a garden centre should be rated as either agricultural/and/or horticultural.5p a unit or 8p.
In my humble opinion these businesses are meerly Nurseries definately not Retail that would be a shop @ £6.40 !
Obviously one does not need to employ a spin doctor to defend an honest mistake.
We are after all only human and we all make mistakesfrom time to time.
So problem solved,garden centres survive and go on to live happily ,well not ever after,but until perhaps the next time. |

| | £5,500 per year aprox for us which compared to the bins is a bargain. Next years bil for refuse collection £8,900 Still my gas bill at £67.00 per day makes them both look like a bargain and our heating is oil fired - looks like my customers might have to get used to a salad bar in the future |
