Chamber News January 2007
· We hereby notify members that the Annual General Meeting of The Guernsey Chamber of Commerce takes place on Thursday March 29th at The Duke of Richmond Hotel. Chamber Council is proposing that Mark Trenchard be nominated as President for the coming two years. As indicated at the last AGM Vernon Etherington will be unable to fill the post of President and at the present time Council reports that it is unable to submit a nomination for vice-president from within the Council. Chamber Members are therefore encouraged to complete nominations for this and other posts when the nomination forms are distributed in the near future. Meanwhile nomination forms and any further information can be obtained from the Chamber office on 727483
· Your Council has now been representing Island business for 199 years and we continue to welcome any business members who feel they are able to represent their particular business sector on Chamber's Council. Special arrangements are now being planned for Chambers 200th anniversary in 2008.
· We welcome three new members of Chamber this month:
o Guernsey Airtel Ltd (part of Bharty Global)
o British American Tobacco (CI) Ltd
o Fumoto Engineering of Europe Ltd
- The next Lunch Club is on Tuesday 20th February and the speaker will be notified in the Press shortly. As usual the lunch club provides an excellent chance for networking with business colleagues. At £10 for a three course meal with a glass of wine the lunch is excellent value. We welcome new and occasional members who should contact Chamber office to make arrangements beforehand.
- The Chamber office is open from Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm and a meeting room with facilities is available for use of members at a small charge. Telephone 727483 or email office@chamber.guernsey.net to make enquiries.
- The Chamber website is www.chamber.guernsey.net and contains contact details for all member businesses.
- Chamber's high quality Desk Diary was almost a sellout this year. We have 10 copies remaining and no reasonable offer will be refused for the last few.
· The office is now preparing for the 2007 Annual Business Directory which is due to be published in June. Members are now being circulated with the current information we hold on their business. This is your chance to update any changes to your business details and we would encourage you to return the information form as soon as possible after you receive it. The 2006 Annual Business Directory is now available free of charge to members who require additional copies.
- Chamber provides a range of approved business certification- services for its members. Call the office and ask Jan Vaudin to describe the full range of international services we can provide.
- Chamber has booked a table for the Industry Awards evening on February 8th. Anybody wishing to join the table at £45 per head should contact the office.
- Chamber sends a single copy of Business Contact to each member monthly. If your company needs additional copies then contact the office to make arrangements.
You should now have received the Business Survey organised by The Young Business Group. We would earnestly encourage all businesses to complete the survey which provides a vital independent monitor of Island affairs. The survey is distributed by email and can be completed on-line but if you are not yet "connected" then call the office for a copy to be sent to you.
