| SHORT SUMMARY FOR CHAMBER FORUM Present : Hannah Beacom Kathy Tracey Matt Polson Apologies: Alun Williams Graham Rabey Discussed: Additional new members : To recruit from YBG To recruit from other businesses, particularly those short-listed in the Excellence in Training at the Awards for Achievement. If anyone is interested in joining the committee, please contact the Chamber office. Management Essentials: Chamber has worked with GTA University in devising these courses – with non-finance sectors in mind. They are two-hour seminars, interactive, covering the essentials for supervisors and managers. Review required following the second running of these courses. Business/Education Partnership Chamber has been working closely with Education, GIBA, IOD and CGI on a number of initiatives. Vocational Course Development HB has been involved in Education’s group looking at the provision of vocational courses in the island. AOB Should grants be available to smaller companies to enable them to provide training? What is the current position of Commerce & Employment’s Workforce Development Plan? | From Lance ................... Hi I would love to get my hands dirty and help Hanna. Also, If needed I don`t mind helping on the Education and Training Sub. I`ve just decided not to stand for re-election for the Apprenticeship and Youth Training Committee, for no particular reason other for just having a break for a year as I`ve been on it for a long time. I`ll still keep in touch and will help out if approached. I`ve also stepped down from being chairman of the GBTEA sub for Education and Training, but am still a member of this sub. Mainly for a little bit of a rest, but I`m still quite active. If there are other members of Chamber that are keen then choose them first, but I`m available if I can help if you want as Ed &Training is a topic I am very passionate about. And despite my many faults I do like to contribute if I have the opportunity.
