After being involved in this strange role for two years now, I have been asked by Chamber of Commerce if I will be staying on for the next two years. Basically this is really up to you lot out there.

I don’t have a problem doing it but if someone else want the job then hey, that’s down to you guys.

To give you a flavour of what you will deal with in this “challenging” & “demanding” role I have outlined some of the main criteria:-

Be able to answer questions from the media on a variety of subjects from sewage to “do you think we need a bigger runway?”

An opinion on parking in town is useful for Chamber Meetings

Be able to work on own initiative – as feedback is “limited” unless the s**t has hit the fan big time in which case you will be on call 24/ 7

Work for absolutely nothing

Communicate with all tourism related industries on all subjects from:-

Credit card fraud

How to deal with knife wielding staff

My wife has left me what do I do?

Why can’t I build 10 open market properties in my back garden ?

“Why don’t the states give me the marketing budget – I can do a better job”

I have enjoyed my time and don’t mind doing a bit more but, as I say, you decide.

PS if I don’t get a response to this (more than likely – see above) you will be stuck with me for the next two years!
