| I was born in the UK and my family moved to Guernsey in 1978.
I was schooled at Elizabeth College until 1987 when I took a gap year to broaden my horizons including touring with local band The Risk around Europe, working in the mail order business and inter-railing with school friends around Europe, Greece and Turkey.
I then went on to study for a degree in Social and Environmental Studies, specialising in Archaeology and Anthropology, at Liverpool University until 1991.
I have spent a lot of my working life in the mail order pipe and tobacco business, lately being involved in the IT, e-commerce and book-keeping sides of the business. In between times I have also been involved in music production and web design.
I am currently one of the directors of two small family businesses; E. A. Carey (Europe) Ltd and Creative Marketing Limited; between the 2 we employ 12 local staff, and lease a medium-sized purpose built mail order building. We specialise in mail order pipes and tobacco, and also general house-wares to the UK, among other things.
My hobbies include surfing and playing alto saxophone.
